We value biblical teaching, so we have a couple come down every Sunday to have a service for the community. They also do fun crafts with the children and teenagers, and they are learning songs on the recorders. This ministry has helped keep the members of the community unified and provides the children and teenagers with something enjoyable to do and helps keep them out of trouble.
Annual School Supply Drive
We collect school supplies during the month of May and June through our sponsors and ship them out in June. We fill book bags with various school supplies that will be needed throughout the school year. The students look forward to this time of the year as most parents in the community do not have the means to provide these supplies for the children.
We value school education and believe that one way to end the cycle of poverty is through education. So, we have made a promise to any graduating seniors that if they desire to go to college, we will pay their books and transportation.
When the non-profit first began we geared our focus to providing a meal for the children in the community because many of them were malnourished. This undernourishment leads to decreased achievement in schooling and overall well-being. Since the feeder opened, the children are happy, excelling in their schooling and improving their well-being. Now, we provide weekday meals for over 40 children in the community.
We provide hygiene clinics that consists of teaching personal hygiene practices, providing them with supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, hair shampoo, and deodorants and dental clinics. We have also been able to provide annual health physicals by a licensed pediatrician that provides vitamins and medicines.
"Gallon of Love"
During the month of November, we begin collecting gallon bags filled with various gifts from sponsors based on child's age, and at the end of the month they are packed and shipped to the Dominican Republic. This project is near and dear to our heart because the children really look forward to this time. This gift is sometimes the only gift a child receives throughout the season.
